Edgefield
County was formed in 1785, as part of the Old Ninety-Six
District. The county is known for its strong agricultural
existence and is one of the largest state producers
of peaches. The County has an estimated number of
24,595 residents and encompasses a land area of
509 square miles.
ECONOMY
Manufacturers, Services and Government are the
largest employers in Edgefield County, according
to the South Carolina Employment Security Commission.
Employers like Mount Vernon Mills, Milliken & Co,
Beacon Filtration, Delta Apparel Co, VF Playwear
and the Edgefield County School district employ
a large percentage of the workforce.
