National Science Center Appoints New CEO and Chairman

Joe F. Edwards, Jr., has been appointed CEO and Chairman of the Board for the National Science Center. The National Science Center, headquartered at Fort Discovery, serves as a catalyst to spark interest in math and science among young people across America.

Edwards, a former NASA Astronaut, has been involved with several start-up companies in the areas of technology, aviation, telecommunications and leadership development.


AUSA Names New President

The Greater Augusta-Fort Gordon Chapter of the Association of the United States Army has named Robert Damen as their new president. Mr. Damen began his new position July 1, 2002.

Mr. Damen1s primary goals will be getting more corporate members involved with the Fort Gordon community and maintaining the Fort Gordon Chapter as the Chapter of Excellence.

Mr. Damen says he is very excited about his new position and will make every effort to keep the soldiers looking for great things to happen in our community through this organization.

The AUSA is a private non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring today1s soldiers are well trained, well equipped and adequately compensated for their service.

ASU Names New Academics Leader
Samuel Sullivan, a former physics professor and academic officer at the University of the District of Columbia, has been named vice president for academic affairs at Augusta State University.

Paine Professor Sworn in by Georgia Governor
Paine College Professor of Sociology Dr. Purna Mohanty was recently sworn in by Governor Roy Barnes to serve on the State Board of Nursing Home Administrators.
