The Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field is located
7 miles from downtown Augusta on Doug Barnard Parkway (56
spur) south of Bobby Jones Expressway (I-520).
Over
200,000 passengers per year take non-stop flights from Augusta
Regional Airport to three major airlines hubs - Atlanta,
Cincinnati and Charlotte. Effective December 1, 2000, Delta
connection carriers Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) and
COMAIR will offer non-stop service to Atlanta and Cincinnati
- nine daily flights to ATL and two daily flights to CVG.
U.S. Airways Express provides seven daily flights to CLT.
HIGHWAYS
Interstate 20 allows for direct access east to Atlanta in
two and half hours and one and a half hour west to Columbia,
South Carolina. A local interstate in the area is I-520
(Bobby Jones Expressway), a perimeter highway-linking South
Richmond County and Bush Field Airport to Interstate 20.
Additional U.S. highways in the Augusta area include north/south
Highways 1 and 25, and east/west Highways 78 and 278.
TRANSPORTATION
Travel time from anywhere in Augusta and Columbia County
is between 10-35 minutes. It is estimated that 94.6% of
the population of these two counties travel to work by car,
truck or van and .8% utilize public transportation.
