Air Travel & Transport

The Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field is located 7 miles from downtown Augusta on Doug Barnard Parkway (56 spur) south of Bobby Jones Expressway (I-520).

Augusta's airport is located seven miles from downtown Augusta, making it easily accessible to area travelers. Three major airlines (Continental, U.S. Air, and Delta Connection ASA) provide non-stop service to four hub cities, including Atlanta, Charlotte, Newark and Houston. The airport serves nearly 300,000 passengers each year.

HIGHWAYS
Augusta has direct access to Atlanta in two-and-a-half hours by going west on Interstate 20. Columbia, SC is one hour to the east of I-20.

A local interstate in the area is I-520 (Bobby Jones Expressway), a perimeter highway linking South Richmond County and Bush Field Airport to Interstate 20. Construction plans will take I-520 across the Savannah River into South Carolina and connect with I-20.

Linking Augusta and Savannah with a four-lane highway is the Savannah River Parkway, now under construction. A number of US highways further link Augusta to the rest of Georgia.

TRANSPORTATION
Travel time from anywhere in Augusta and Columbia County is between 10-35 minutes. It is estimated that 94.6% of the population of these two counties travel to work by car, truck or van and .8% utilize public transportation.
