INVESTING IN YOUR SUCCESS
In an effort to attract and retain quality employers Georgia offers a fair and reasonable tax environment in which companies may prosper and grow. Georgia’s major state taxes include: corporate income and sales tax. The major local taxes include sales tax and personal and real property tax. A number of tax exemptions are available on items, such as manufacturing machinery, raw materials, purchases for resale, pollution control equipment, machinery components and many more.

Richmond, Columbia and Burke Counties have an array of available incentive and assistance programs. Georgia’s Business Expansion Support Act (B.E.S.T.) offers an appealing package of tax incentives for new and expanding businesses. Also, the ONE Georgia Authority may offer financial assistance to certain projects.

These incentives are designed to provide companies locating within the three counties a competitive edge by reducing both startup and long term operating costs. Tax credits offered include job, investment, optional investment, retraining, child credit and corporate headquarters tax credits.

Following is a summary of the major programs; a complete description of these programs is available by contacting the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce.
