AIR TRANSPORTATION
Augusta has two airports: Augusta Regional Airport
at Bush Field and Daniel Field. These two facilities
are owned by the Augusta consolidated government
and operated by appointed commissions.
AUGUSTA
REGIONAL AIRPORT
The Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field is
located 7 miles from downtown Augusta on Doug Barnard
Parkway (56 spur) south of Bobby Jones Expressway
(I-520).
Over
200,000 airline passengers per year take nonstop
flights from the Augusta Regional Airport to three
major airline hubs - Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Charlotte.
Delta Connection carriers Atlantic Southeast Airlines
(ASA) and COMAIR will offer non-stop service to
Atlanta and Cincinnati - nine daily flights to ATL
and two daily flights to CVG. US Airways Express
provides seven daily flights to CLT.
The
airport has two asphalt intersecting runways. The
North - South runway (17 - 35) is 8,000' x 150'
and is equipped with a Category 1 Instrument Landing
System. The East - West runway (8 - 26) is 6,000'
x 150'. Both are equipped with high intensity runway
lights.
Avis,
Hertz, Budget and National provide the in-terminal
automobile rental service. The airport hotel has
a complete restaurant, lounge and meeting room.
Long-term and short-term parking is available.
The
Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field also offers
full service airfreight facilities complete with
loading docks and airside ramp access. The airport
also has a jet engine rebuild and major maintenance
is provided by Garrett Aviation, a subsidiary of
General Electric. The Augusta Regional Airport at
Bush Field has a fixed base operator, Bush Field
Aviation Services.
DANIEL
FIELD
Daniel Field services charter flights in and
out of Augusta. Daniel Field has VOR and MDB navigational
systems. There are two lighted runways (3,773 and
3,877 feet) with aircraft tie down and hanger availability.
